We check how the spine and related joints are moving and whether adjustment care is appropriate.

A chiropractic adjustment, also called a spinal adjustment or chiropractic manipulation, is a hands-on technique used to help improve joint motion and spinal function when clinically appropriate.
The goal is not to force every spine into the same pattern. The doctor first evaluates movement, symptoms, health history, and comfort level, then determines whether an adjustment is appropriate or whether another conservative option makes more sense.
Adjustments are not limited to one condition. Patients may ask about adjustment care for stiffness, mobility concerns, neck discomfort, back discomfort, or general spinal function, but the recommendation should always follow an exam.
Your visit begins with a consultation and exam. The doctor may review posture, range of motion, joint movement, muscle tone, orthopedic findings, neurological signs, and any relevant health history before recommending care.
If an adjustment is appropriate, the doctor will explain the area being treated and the approach being used. Some adjustments use a quick controlled movement, while others may be gentler or instrument-assisted depending on the patient and the clinical findings.
Assessment comes before adjustment. If your history or exam suggests that imaging, medical referral, or a different treatment approach is needed, the doctor will discuss that before proceeding.
Chiropractic adjustments may not be appropriate for every patient or every condition. Severe trauma, certain neurological symptoms, some bone health concerns, infection, unexplained systemic symptoms, or other medical factors may require additional evaluation.
The purpose of the exam is to choose care that fits the person in front of us, not to apply the same technique to every visit.
Different patients need different approaches. Some people respond best to traditional manual adjustments, while others may do better with lighter mobilization, soft tissue care, stretching, exercise guidance, or a plan that avoids adjustment in certain areas.
It is also normal to hear a popping sound during some adjustments. That sound is usually related to pressure changes inside the joint and is not the main goal of care. The more important goal is improved motion, comfort, and function when the technique is appropriate.
Your care plan may include adjustment, supportive therapies, home recommendations, ergonomic guidance, and follow-up visits based on how your body responds.
Adjustment care may be part of a plan for several movement-related concerns, including neck stiffness, mid-back tightness, rib restrictions, headache-related tension, hip or shoulder movement issues, and back discomfort.
